What we Believe
- God
We believe in one true, living, and eternal God, who is revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- The Bible
We believe the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, trustworthy Word of God and the only dependable guide for Christian belief and behavior.
- Humanity and Sin
We believe God created people in His image to honor Him through obedience. But when people disobeyed, they became sinful and unable to save themselves. We believe infants are included in God’s grace, and people become responsible before God when they can understand right and wrong.
- Salvation
We believe that salvation—including new life, cleansing from sin, being made right with God, and being set free—comes through the life, death, resurrection, and ongoing work of Jesus Christ. It is received through repentance and faith in Him.
- Security and Free Will
We believe Christians can be sure of their salvation if they remain in Christ. However, people still have free will and can choose to turn away from God.
- Christian Living
We believe Christians should faithfully serve God through the local church, pray often, share their faith, be kind and generous, and live in a way that honors God.
- The Church
We believe the Church Universal is the body of Christ, made up of all believers. A local church is a group of Christians who come together for worship, growth, and service.
- Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
We believe baptism and the Lord’s Supper were commanded by Christ and are for Christians only. Baptism should be by immersion. The Lord’s Supper is open to all believers. Some churches also practice foot washing; whether to do so is a personal choice and should not divide believers.
- The Lord’s Day
We believe Sunday, the Lord’s Day, should be kept holy through worship, sharing our faith, and helping others. Secular work should be limited to necessary or compassionate situations.
- Christ’s Return and Final Judgment
We believe Jesus Christ will personally return, the dead will rise, and God will judge everyone. The faithful will receive eternal life in heaven, and the unrighteous will face eternal punishment in hell.
